Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@mdpilates.co.za if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Pilates can improve strength, flexibility, posture, balance, and coordination. It can also help reduce stress and tension, alleviate back pain, and improve overall body awareness.

We offer a variety of classes, including :

  • Mat Pilates
  • Equipment Pilates
  • Pre- & Postnatal Pilates
  • Rehabilitation & Recovery Pilates
  • Postural Correction & Scoliosis Management
  • Stretch Therapy & Mobility
  • Functional Fitness & Conditioning

Not at all! We welcome all levels — from complete beginners to advanced movers. Every class is guided by an experienced instructor who ensures your movements are safe, effective, and tailored to your level.

Your journey begins with our Trial & Assessment Session — a 50-minute private class for R300, especially if you are new to Pilates, or need a refresher or simply need help to what you need to be doing.
This allows us to assess your posture, movement, and goals before recommending the best class combination for your needs and budget.

All of our classes are 50 minutes long,,

Comfortable, form-fitting activewear that allows freedom of movement. Avoid loose clothing and zips, as they can get caught in the equipment. Pilates is usually done barefoot or with grip socks.

Mat Pilates uses your body weight and control to build strength and stability.
Equipment Pilates (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair) adds resistance and support through springs and pulleys — enhancing tone, alignment, and precision.

No — our boutique studio provides everything you need. You’re welcome to bring your own mat or grip socks if you prefer.

We keep our groups intentionally small to ensure personalized attention.
Group Reformer classes usually have up to 6 clients, Mat up to 12, and specialty classes (like Aerial or Functional Fitness) vary depending on the setup.

For the best results, we recommend 2–3 sessions per week.
Consistency is key — even one class a week will make a difference in your posture, strength, and mindset.

Our instructors are highly trained to modify and support your movements safely.
We may recommend starting with Private Sessions or Rehabilitation Pilates to build strength and confidence before joining a group.

Booking is easy — simply message us directly to find a time that suits you.
We kindly ask for a minimum of 12 hours’ notice for any cancellations or reschedules.

STUDIO ETIQUTTE

Creating a calm, mindful space together.

At MD Pilates, we value respect, connection, and awareness — both on and off the mat.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our studio guidelines so every session remains peaceful, professional, and uplifting for all.

Arrive Mindfully

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in, breathe, and prepare.
Late arrivals may disrupt others and shorten your session time.

Silence & Presence

Our studio is a sanctuary. Kindly keep voices low and phones on silent to maintain the calm, focused energy of the space.

Cleanliness & Care

We take pride in our beautiful equipment. Please wipe down Reformers, mats, and props after each use with the provided spray and cloths.

Dress Code

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows free movement.
Avoid zips, buttons, or jewelry that may catch on the equipment.
Grip socks are recommended for hygiene and safety.

Respect the Flow

Each class is carefully structured — please follow your instructor’s guidance, listen to your body, and move with awareness.

Cancellations & Bookings

We require a minimum of 12 hours’ notice for any class cancellation or reschedule.
Late cancellations or no-shows will unfortunately forfeit the session.

Health & Safety

Inform your instructor of any injuries, conditions, or changes before class begins.
We’ll adjust movements to keep you safe and supported.

Community Spirit

MD Pilates is built on kindness and encouragement. Celebrate each other’s progress, respect the space, and move mindfully together.

CANCELLATION POLICY & PAYMENT

Clarity and consistency keep our studio flowing smoothly.

  • Payments can be made via EFT, cash or card.

  • Payment of 50% of missed sessions is due if you are away for more than 2 weeks.

30-Day Notice Cancellation Policy

Consistency builds progress — and respect keeps our community strong.

At MD Pilates, we plan our instructor schedules, class allocations, and client spaces carefully to maintain the boutique quality of our experience.
For this reason, all ongoing clients (those booked on regular weekly sessions or monthly packages) are required to give a minimum of 30 days’ written notice if they wish to cancel or pause their sessions.

Why 30 Days?

  • 💙 It ensures fair scheduling and allows us to offer your reserved space to another client.

  • 🤍 It protects the income stability of your instructor, who commits time and preparation to your sessions.

  • 🌿 It helps maintain the smooth flow of our booking system, ensuring all clients receive consistent, uninterrupted service.

During your 30-day notice period, sessions will continue as normal.

Late Arrivals

Arriving late affects the flow of your class and others.
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, entry may not be permitted out of respect for the class rhythm.

Refunds

Due to limited class spaces and instructor scheduling, no refunds are available once a session has commenced and been paid for.

However, session transfers may be accommodated at management’s discretion.
